A dry sauna is different from a wet sauna in the method that is used to produce heat. In a wet sauna, the source of the heat, which are heated rocks, are splashed with water, thus creating steam and making the humidity in the sauna room higher. In a dry sauna, water is not used to create steam; therefore, it is only the source of the heat that produces it. The benefits of dry sauna as opposed to the benefits of wet sauna are actually in the way that the heat is produced.

Dry Versus Wet

The more common wet sauna may seem hotter due to the steam which is usually present in the sauna room. It takes the wet sauna longer to achieve the benefits of dry sauna. The more efficient heating process of the dry sauna means that one can stay longer in the sauna room and get more benefits of dry sauna compared to the same time one spends in the wet sauna room.

Other than the benefits of dry sauna mentioned above, the others are all those that are also benefits of the wet sauna. These benefits include detoxification, better circulation smoother skin and a state of relaxation and well being. These are only some of the benefits that we get from saunas.

Other benefits of dry sauna have something to do with the controlled heat that this method emanates. The controlled heat means one can use tolerable heat for maximum comfort and benefit. Tolerable heat means that one can stay longer to reap the benefits of dry sauna. Dry saunas are actually a lot easier to use than wet saunas but some people still prefer to feel the wetness of the traditional Finnish saunas. It can be pegged down as a matter of preference although the benefits of dry saunas may seem slightly more than others.
